Test Five: The Age of Nations
Sixteen nations. Dozens of players. One fragile peace.
23 June - 30 August 2022
The Fifth and final (to date) major test game marked a significant turning point in the evolution and development of the game. It was an ambitious trial that expanded both scale and substance. With over thirty active participants across sixteen nations, the world came alive with competing interests, bold declarations, and eternally quiet scheming. This was the first game to introduce national tax rates, generating revenue systems that shaped internal budgets and national priorities. Diplomacy matured further: players drafted and signed formal treaties, navigated complex alliances, and engaged in tense negotiations and disputes. Behind the scenes, espionage and war systems deepened once more, with spies, secrets, and sudden strikes redefining how conflict unfolded in the game world. The balance between diplomacy and destruction had never been more precarious.

The First Treaties

Test Game Five marked a significant milestone in the development of Campaign for the Entire God Damn World.
For the first time in the series of test games, formal diplomatic agreements and treaties were introduced and used as binding instruments between player-led nations.
This evolution in gameplay added a new layer of complexity and realism, moving beyond the often chaotic and unilateral actions of previous test games. Treaties encouraged players to negotiate, collaborate, and enforce agreements that shaped the political landscape in more structured ways.
This game saw two major treaties signed. The first was the Kazakh-German Treaty of Friendship - which was signed on or around 24 June 2022 - making it the first official treaty signed in Campaign for the Entire God Damn World. Unfortunately, any transcript or draft of this treaty has been lost since being signed.
Not long after, on 15 July 2022, four nations - Türkiye, Nigeria, Jamaica, and South Korea - came together to sign the Slay Treaty to officially form the Slay Alliance. The Slay Treaty is the oldest official treaty that we still have record of, as contained in a reconstructed copy as seen here. Unfortunately, like the Kazakh-German Treaty of Friendship, the original copy signed by the players has been lost.
These treaties represent a foundational moment for the evolution of formal diplomacy within the game - setting precedents for alliances, ceasefires, and mutual cooperation that continue to influence gameplay philosophy in Global Nexus today.
