Contribute to Global Nexus

Help shape the next era.

Global Nexus is an ambitious geopolitical sandbox built on systems, story, and the sheer willpower of a very tired (and small) dev team. As we expand toward something bigger, we're always looking to bring in new voices - sharp minds, creative thinkers, and anyone who wants to leave their mark on this world-in-progress.

Who We're Looking For

We're especially keen to hear from:

  • Narrative and Scenario Developers - If you love writing choices with consequences, designing nation-driven drama, or dreaming up global crises, this is for you. Help shape the world through branching stories, political dilemmas, and playable chaos.
  • Systems and Mechanic Designers - Obsessed with balance? Enjoy creating rules that actually work? Help us refine how everything connects - from elections and economic trade to warfare and policy logic.
  • Editors and Reviewers - If your idea of fun is catching inconsistencies, fixing typos, and cutting a bloated sentence in half... boy, do we have something for you. (Please.)
  • Art and Content Creators - Good with visuals? Know how to make an Instagram post look like a world-ending government leak? From graphic design to motion reels to lore-fuelled memes - we'd love your help bringing Global Nexus to life online (Plus our rulebooks currently have so little visuals it isn't funny. Please someone help.)
  • Pitch Wildcards - Got something different? A skillset that doesn't quite fit these boxes? Submit anyway! We're building a world - there's probably a place for you in it.

Unfortunately, we are not currently looking for investors, coders, or marketing experts - but we appreciate your interest!

What to Know

  • This is a casualunpaidvolunteer-based dev team. Think "midnight Discord call" energy, not corporate boardroom meeting.

  • You'll be credited. You'll have input. You won't be asked to build the pyramids.

  • We develop on our own time. Flexibility and passion matter more than hours spent.

  • You don't need to know everything! We value curiosity and ideas over experience. If you've got a brain and a browser, you're good.

  • Collaboration over competition. Everyone brings different strengths - from lore nerds to spreadsheet freaks - and that's the point.

  • Some secrets stay redacted. You might get early access to plans and spoilers. Discretion may apply.

  • There's a lot of reading and writing. Global Nexus is dense. If you like manuals, mechanics, and sprawling documents... welcome home?

  • It's a game - but it's also an experiment. This project blurs the lines between worldbuilding, gameplay, and political theatre.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do I need to work on the project?

There's no set schedule. Some contributors drop in weekly, others pop in every now and then - and that's totally fine! I personally try and do something development-related most days, but I absolutely don't expect that from anyone else - again, we're building an unpaid, casual, development team - commit how much you want.

Do I need experience?

Not at all! If you're curious, creative, and willing to learn or give it a go - that's what matters. Whether you're a seasoned writer or just someone who likes worldbuilding for fun, you're welcome here.

Where will the team work together?

Mostly in group chats and Discord calls. It's where ideas are shared, feedback happens, and memes appear unprompted. If you're not already on there, we'll help you get set up.

Can I contribute in more than one area?

Absolutely. If you want to write, edit, and throw in some map or visual designs on the side, go for it. We're all about wearing as many hats as you'd like.

Will I be credited?

Yes! Every contributor will be credited for what they've helped build - whether that's designing a single scenario or event, or helping develop entire systems or mechanics - your name will appear in the Credits section of the First Manual upon completion.

Who's working on this right now?

Mostly just me (Jacob), sitting at my desk whispering "is this a good idea?" into the abyss. Occasionally, a few friends drop in with thoughts when I prod them with a late-night message like "hey does this make sense or am I losing it?" following by a screenshot of a draft manual page. So if you join, congrats - you might instantly double the size of the official development team.
